On Tuesday, 13th May 2025, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, received a courtesy visit from Mr. Foster Boakye, Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, along with his team from the Bono Regional Sports Directorate.
During the meeting, the delegation extended their congratulations to the Minister on his recent appointment and expressed their best wishes for a successful tenure. They outlined the Directorate’s mandate to promote sports development and nurture young talents across the region.
The team also voiced concerns regarding the inadequate sports infrastructure in the Bono Region, despite its historically strong sporting culture. In response, the Regional Minister reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the growth of sports in the region. He emphasized the need to explore opportunities for constructing an ultra-modern stadium in Sunyani and completing the ongoing stadium project in Dormaa.
He further assured the delegation that the four incomplete Astroturf pitches in Sunyani would be given the necessary attention to ensure their completion.
The Minister acknowledged the unwavering commitment of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to sports development and expressed confidence that the Bono Region would experience substantial improvements in its sporting infrastructure under his leadership. He also welcomed collaboration with the National Sports Authority, expressing optimism about the potential of sports to drive regional development and unity.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to work together in unlocking the full potential of sporting talent in the Bono Region.
