Trade Minister Engages GUTA, AGI, FABAG on Persistent High Prices

Minister for Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is currently holding a high-level closed-door meeting with representatives from the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the Food and Beverage Association of Ghana (FABAG).

The meeting aims to address ongoing concerns around price hikes and other economic challenges impacting businesses and consumers across the country.

This engagement comes amid signs of gradual economic recovery, including a marginal appreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi and a slow decline in inflation. Despite these developments, many citizens continue to grapple with the high cost of goods and services, sparking demands for urgent action from industry stakeholders.

The discussions are focused on identifying practical steps to translate recent macroeconomic improvements into real benefits for the Ghanaian public. Key issues on the table include the enforcement of fair pricing mechanisms, the burden of import duties, and the implementation of supportive policies to alleviate pressure on local businesses.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape future government policies aimed at stabilizing prices and rebuilding consumer trust in the marketplace.
