The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has confirmed a temporary disruption in Ghana’s gas supply following a technical fault on the Jubilee Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, Kwame Nkrumah.
In a statement released today, May 11, 2025, by Ministry spokesperson Richmond Rockson, Esq., the disruption was attributed to a damaged compressor on the FPSO. The fault occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
“Initial assessments suggest the need for significant repairs,” the statement read. “The team is currently working diligently to implement the necessary repairs to restore the supply of gas as soon as possible.”
The Ministry assured the public and industry stakeholders that efforts are underway to rectify the issue promptly, with technical teams already deployed to address the malfunction.
While the Ministry did not specify how long the disruption would last, it emphasized that updates will be issued regularly as progress is made on repairs.
The Jubilee FPSO is a critical asset in Ghana’s offshore oil and gas production, and any interruption to its operations can have ripple effects on domestic power generation and industrial gas supply.
Consumers are advised to remain calm as the government works to resolve the situation and minimize the impact on national energy delivery.
