New Lawyers Embrace Acting Chief Justice’s Call to Prioritize Justice Over Personal Gain

Newly enrolled lawyers in Ghana have responded positively to Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie’s recent admonition to prioritize justice over personal gain in their legal practice. During a ceremony for newly called lawyers, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized the importance of integrity and public service, cautioning against allowing personal interests to dictate their professional conduct.

In interviews following the event, many of the new lawyers expressed appreciation for the Chief Justice’s guidance. They acknowledged the challenges within the legal profession but affirmed their commitment to upholding ethical standards and serving the public interest. Some highlighted the need for systemic reforms to support ethical practices, including mentorship programs and institutional accountability mechanisms.

The Acting Chief Justice’s remarks come at a time when the Ghanaian legal system faces scrutiny over issues of corruption and public trust. His call for ethical vigilance aims to inspire the new generation of lawyers to contribute to restoring confidence in the judiciary and ensuring justice for all.
