‘BNC Communications Bureau’ Was Legally Created for National Security Needs – Kwabena Adu-Boahene

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a key figure linked to the controversial ‘BNC Communications Bureau’ account, has defended its establishment, stating that it was a special purpose vehicle (SPV) created with full authorization to address pressing national security concerns at the time.

According to Adu-Boahene, the account was neither unauthorized nor illegal, but rather set up through due process to serve Ghana’s security interests.

In a public statement, he explained, “The ‘BNC Communications Bureau’ account was a special purpose vehicle duly authorized and created to meet specific national security exigencies. Its formation was guided by the prevailing demands of the time and supported by the appropriate institutions.”

His comments come amid growing scrutiny over the use and purpose of the account, with questions raised about transparency and accountability in the management of funds designated for sensitive state operations.

Adu-Boahene’s clarification aims to counter public speculation and political commentary suggesting impropriety or mismanagement.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the matter, but sources indicate investigations are ongoing to verify all associated transactions.
