Let’s work together for a prosperous Ghana – Mahama tells employers, workers

President John Dramani Mahama has called on employers and employees to work together in a spirit of collaboration, mutual respect, and understanding to build a more prosperous and equitable Ghana.

In a statement issued on May 1 to mark Workers’ Day, the President emphasised the need for unity between workers and employers in driving national development.

“Let us all, employers and employees, commit to fostering a spirit of collaboration, understanding, and mutual respect. Let us work together to create a more prosperous and equitable Ghana, where every citizen can contribute their talents and skills to national development,” the statement said.

Mr. Mahama praised the dedication and hard work of Ghanaian workers, acknowledging their vital role in the country’s progress.

“Today, [May 1], is a special day for our gallant workers. On behalf of the people of Ghana, I celebrate your tireless efforts, dedication, and contributions to our progress as a country and people,” he noted

He reaffirmed his commitment to creating an enabling environment for workers to thrive as part of his broader plan to reset the nation’s development agenda.

“My government recognises and deeply values the pivotal role of the Ghanaian worker in driving our national development agenda. You are the engine of our economy, the builders of our infrastructure, and the innovators who propel us forward. I am, therefore, committed to creating a supportive environment that allows you to thrive and help Reset Ghana,” he stated.

President Mahama also pledged to strengthen labour laws, ensure the enforcement of occupational safety and health regulations, and promote meaningful dialogue between employers and employees.

“Government is committed to strengthening our labour laws, enforcing occupational safety and health regulations, and promoting social dialogue between employers and employees,” he added.
