Jennifer Oforiwaah Queen, Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken aim at former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Frimpong-Boateng, over his management of the illegal mining (galamsey) crisis during his time in government.
Speaking during an NPPLive+ discussion titled “NDC Galamsey Fight U-turn: Hypocrisy or Fan-Fooling?” on April 27, 2028, Jennifer questioned why a renowned cardiac surgeon like Prof. Frimpong-Boateng was tasked with addressing illegal mining activities, arguing that the role was outside his field of expertise.
According to her, the professor should have declined the appointment, citing his lack of relevant experience. “Your area was dealing with people suffering from heart conditions. If the government assigned you to tackle galamsey, you should have told them it wasn’t your field,” Jennifer stated.
She also accused Prof. Frimpong-Boateng of later siding with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the NPP in ongoing debates about illegal mining.
Jennifer went on to criticize the former minister for deploying technology such as surveillance drones — which he claimed could detect illegal miners from 800 feet — and for initiating other costly projects that, in her view, failed to solve the galamsey problem.
“You had videos, secret recordings, drones, and other equipment purchased for the fight. Yet today, you sit and back the NDC government,” she added.
