Frederick Opare-Ansah, the Campaign Manager for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential bid, has insisted that Bawumia has not tried to separate himself from the previous administration’s mistakes.
His comments come in response to claims that Dr. Bawumia was attempting to distance himself from the shortcomings of the government he served under.
In an interview on Citi Prime News on Monday, April 28, Opare-Ansah said, “I have yet to hear the former Vice President and our flagbearer speak in any forum and disassociate himself from the government’s actions. He has never done that.”
He stressed that Bawumia’s repeated use of the word “we” in his public addresses shows he acknowledges collective responsibility for the administration’s performance.
“In all his speeches, the word ‘we’ is used most frequently. He shares that various studies, including those involving interactions at the grassroots and polling station levels, have revealed that while in office, we failed to listen to the people,” Opare-Ansah noted.
“They told us to reshuffle, and we didn’t. He didn’t blame any individual; instead, he said, ‘you asked us for a reshuffle, and we didn’t do it.’ Similarly, when it came to the E-levy, he acknowledged that ‘you opposed it, but we still went ahead with it,’” he added.
