Hon. Seid Mubarak Vows Urgent Repairs After Shocking State of Sunyani Hospital Theatres

Yesterday, during an inspection of the ongoing Cancer Center project at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital, Hon. Seid Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, was met with a distressing revelation: the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) theatre was in a deplorable state, putting the lives of patients and healthcare professionals at serious risk.

Hon. Mubarak, who was accompanied by Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, MP for Dormaa West, immediately visited the facility upon hearing the report. The condition of the theatre was described as not just poor, but dangerous—posing significant risks of infection and other complications during surgical procedures.

“No patient deserves to undergo surgery in a place that could risk their recovery,” Hon. Mubarak stated passionately. “I couldn’t just walk away.”

Without hesitation, the MP directed his engineers to begin a full assessment of the damage and to start comprehensive renovations beginning Monday. But the troubling discoveries did not end there. Upon visiting the main surgical theatre, the team uncovered more structural issues and learned that the hospital’s anesthesia machine—a vital piece of equipment—was non-functional.

“In the interim, we are exploring ways to repair the current machine,” Hon. Mubarak added, “but long-term, we are committed to securing modern, world-standard anesthesia equipment to ensure safe surgical care.”

Hon. Mubarak emphasized that his intervention is only the beginning of a broader effort to uplift healthcare standards in Sunyani. “Sunyani deserves better,” he said. “Our people deserve dignity and safety when they seek healthcare. It is my goal to ensure the Sunyani Municipal Hospital receives the facelift it has long been denied. We have come to serve.”

His swift action has been praised by many in the community, signaling a new era of responsive and responsible leadership in the Sunyani East constituency.
