NDC Inherited Leadership Deficit and Deep-Rooted Corruption – Gbande

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency and Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, has stated that the party inherited a leadership crisis marked by corruption and related criminal activities.

Speaking on *Hot Issues* on TV3 on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Gbande emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama is determined to restore integrity and leadership credibility while intensifying the fight against corruption.

“We inherited a system built on weak leadership, credibility issues, and deep-rooted corruption. That’s the foundation we met, and it’s what we’re committed to cleaning up,” he said.

Gbande highlighted the proactive stance of the current administration in tackling crimes that were previously hidden or ignored, particularly under the Akufo-Addo government. He pointed out that within the first 100 days of President Mahama’s return to office, law enforcement has intensified efforts against money laundering, drug-related offenses, cybercrime, and politically motivated crimes.

“These crimes were ongoing under the previous administration, but there was silence. Today, we’re seeing a bold and active security apparatus confronting these issues head-on,” he noted.

According to Gbande, the new administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability is evident in its swift action against previously concealed criminal activities, reinforcing the government’s resolve to restore public trust and uphold the rule of law.
