One Million Coders programme key to Ghana’s digital future – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has described the newly launched One Million Coders Programme as a foundational step toward Ghana’s transformation into a digital economy and a bold declaration of the country’s intent to lead in the global tech space.

Speaking at the official launch of the programme on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, President Mahama emphasised the strategic importance of the initiative, which aims to train one million Ghanaians in key digital and coding skills over the coming years.

“We are not just launching a programme, but we are laying the foundation for a blue economy. We are declaring with bold purpose that Ghana is ready to lead in the digital age,” he stated.

The president noted that the programme is not merely a campaign promise fulfilled, but rather a critical component of the government’s broader Reset Ghana Agenda, which seeks to reposition the country for inclusive, innovation-driven development.

“We are saying to our youth, community, and the continent and the world that the future is here and we will be part of shaping it.

“It is not a fulfilled promise but is a strategic pillar in our reset Ghana agenda, designed to equip Ghanians with critical digital skills for the 21st Century life and work,” he added.
