Sekondi MP vows to sue NPP members over alleged cocaine connection

The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah, has announced his intention to take legal action against members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who have implicated him in connection with a $350 million cocaine bust.

The case stems from a recent operation by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), which on Tuesday, March 25, intercepted a tipper truck at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast.

Acting on intelligence, officers discovered approximately 3.3 tonnes of cocaine—143 sacks of the illegal substance—concealed beneath sand, en route to Accra from the Western Region.

Since the seizure, the Sekondi MP has been mentioned in connection with the case. However, in an interview with Citi News, Mr. Armah strongly denied any involvement and revealed plans to report the matter to the Speaker of Parliament for a formal investigation.

“I have no knowledge about anything like that,” he said. “My first time hearing it was when Hon. Ntim Fordjour made those allegations that such things had happened in Sekondi-Takoradi, and a known Parliamentary Candidate in the Western Region is part of the deal.”

He continued, “Then on Monday, Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, a communicator of the NPP, also made a similar allegation but specifically referring to me.”

The Sekondi MP emphasized that his legal action would target all parties responsible for spreading the allegations.

“The writ will target the one who made the allegation, the platform that hosted it, the producer of that platform, and also the NPP communicator who made that allegation,” he stated.
