NPP Youth Leader Salam Mustapha Threatens to Mobilize Supporters Against NDC Over Alleged Plans to Arrest MP Ntim Fordjour

National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has issued a stern warning to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), threatening mass mobilisation and civil resistance should the government proceed with its alleged plan to arrest the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, Mr. Mustapha accused the NDC administration of orchestrating politically motivated attacks against key opposition figures under the guise of national security operations. He cautioned that any further attempt to target Rev. Fordjour would be met with fierce resistance from the NPP’s youth wing and supporters nationwide.

“We will not sit idle while this government harasses and intimidates our Members of Parliament,” he declared. “If the NDC goes ahead with any plan to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour, we will mobilise our people across the country and make governance extremely difficult for them.”

Mr. Mustapha described the attempted arrest as an abuse of state institutions and a threat to democracy, stressing that dissent and accountability must not be criminalised in a democratic state.

He called on civil society, religious leaders, and the international community to speak out against what he termed “growing authoritarianism” under the Mahama-led administration.

“The NPP youth are ready to defend our democracy. We will resist tyranny in any form, and we are prepared to take to the streets if that is what it takes to protect our leaders,” Salam Mustapha said.

His comments follow public outcry over recent developments involving operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), who reportedly attempted to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour in connection with the controversial “suspicious flight” saga.

The government has yet to respond directly to Mr. Mustapha’s remarks.
