Set Standards Worthy of Emulation – Pru East MP Cautions Nursing Students Against Social Media Misuse

Students of the Yeji Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region have been cautioned against the growing trend of social media misuse, particularly the posting of inappropriate content such as twerking videos and personal advertisements.

The advice came from the Member of Parliament for the Pru East Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kweku Boam, during the school’s matriculation and graduation ceremony held in Yeji.

In his address, the MP expressed concern over the increasing number of trainee nurses and midwives who spend valuable time on social media instead of focusing on their studies and professional development.

He urged the students to remain disciplined, reminding them that their roles in the healthcare profession are essential to the well-being of society.

Also speaking at the event, the Principal of the College, Madam Vincencia Mottey, appealed to the government, the MP, and philanthropic organizations to support the institution with much-needed infrastructure.

She highlighted the pressing need for lecture halls, a modern dining facility, and a well-equipped laboratory to enhance teaching and learning at the college.

The ceremony brought together students, staff, community leaders, and invited guests, who echoed calls for discipline among trainee health professionals and greater investment in nursing education
