Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has questioned the governance style of the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, expressing surprise at how it contrasts with President John Mahama’s personal character.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, Ahiagbah noted that although he knows President Mahama personally and considers him to be calm and composed, the conduct of his government does not align with that personality.
He speculated that certain individuals within the NDC may be intentionally working against the national interest, and that President Mahama appears unable to restrain them.
“The demeanor and personality of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama are clearly at odds with how his government is behaving,” he said. “I suspect, and I could be wrong, that there are some hardliners in the NDC administration who are determined to pursue negative agendas—and the President can’t stop them.”
Ahiagbah also pointed fingers at the Director of National Security, Richard Jakpa, describing his actions as seemingly driven by personal motives. “It looks like he’s on a mission to settle scores,” he said.
These remarks were made during a debate with Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, centered on the recent suspicious flight controversy and an incident involving a Nigerian businessman near the Jubilee House.
Ahiagbah’s comments add to growing tensions and debates about the transparency and conduct of the current government.
