Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has voiced her displeasure over how the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is managing disciplinary proceedings against her.
Her frustration follows a no-show by the party’s disciplinary committee at its headquarters, where she had gone to respond to allegations of misconduct.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, April 7, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, Adwoa Safo explained that she was informed of the cancellation only upon arrival.
“There was no committee present. I only spoke to one of the party’s national officers. There was no hearing, so I’m wondering why I was served on a Sunday to appear when clearly there was no sitting,” she said. “If plans had changed, why wasn’t I personally contacted or at least given a call?”
She expressed her readiness to face the committee and disappointment at what she described as poor coordination.
“I came fully prepared for a hearing, only to be told it wasn’t happening. So I had to pack up and leave,” she lamented.
Adwoa Safo also criticized the party for what she sees as a lack of seriousness in handling internal matters.
“As a lawyer, when someone is summoned before a disciplinary committee, it’s implied that the person has done something wrong and deserves a fair hearing. To publicly call me out, then cancel without proper notice, is disheartening,” she added.
However, Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed, countered her claims, stating that the former MP had been informed of the postponement through her legal team.
