President of IMANI Africa Franklin Cudjoe, has strongly criticized the recent National Security raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, questioning the leadership of Richard Jakpa in the operation.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, March 22, Cudjoe expressed deep concerns over Jakpa’s role as the head of the team and condemned how the search was conducted.
“I think we need to move. If there are previous infractions that have been committed by politicians, let us address them in a very simple manner. I do not think it is right.
“I will suggest to Mr. President that I do not think Mr. Jakpa should be leading this team to search. He is a kind of character, and I do not think it does any good to the national security or whoever sent persons like that to go and do this kind of search. It speaks bad of the service.” he stated.
His remarks follow the raid that took place on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, when a heavily armed team, led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, stormed Dr Addison’s Roman Ridge residence in Accra.
The team, consisting of about 20 operatives, some masked and wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, reportedly disabled the CCTV system upon arrival before conducting their search.
Cudjoe criticized the aggressive nature of the operation, stressing that such tactics tarnish the reputation of National Security and undermine public trust.
He further called for a more professional and transparent approach to law enforcement, arguing that Jakpa’s leadership in the operation raises serious concerns.
