Warrants are for lawful searches, not to steal food, money – Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has strongly condemned the raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

The alleged operation, carried out by national security operatives on Wednesday, March 19, at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home in Accra, reportedly involved disabling the CCTV system before conducting a search.

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin claimed that money, as well as the governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces, were missing following the raid.

Reacting to the incident, Mr. Cudjoe criticized the misuse of search warrants, stressing that they should only be employed for lawful searches—not as a cover for vandalism, theft, or other misconduct.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 20, Franklin Cudjoe stated, “It is embarrassing for the Majority Leader of the ruling government to be rendering apologies on behalf of state-sponsored thugs who raid the home of citizens.

“In a civilised country, warrants secured are for lawful searches, not to vandalise property, steal food, money and jewelry.”
