The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally referred Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee for breaching the party’s directives against discussing internal matters in the media.
In a letter dated March 20, 2025, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP cited Hon. Safo’s comments on Joy News’ Pulse Show as a direct violation of the party’s directive. The directive had urged all party members to refrain from making public statements that could cause disaffection and division within the party.
“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the letter stated.
The NPP further highlighted that, as a former Member of Parliament, former Deputy Majority Leader, and a Minister of State in the erstwhile NPP government, Hon. Adwoa Safo was expected to uphold discipline, loyalty, and unity within the party. The letter emphasized that her failure to do so not only undermines the party’s rebuilding efforts but also breaches Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates members to promote and defend the party’s reputation.
Following this development, Hon. Adwoa Safo will now face the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for further action. The outcome of the proceedings could have significant implications for her future in the party.
This latest disciplinary action underscores the NPP’s commitment to maintaining internal cohesion as it prepares for the 2024 elections.
