I didn’t do my national service – Harry Yamson

Michael Harry Yamson, the acting District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) Administrator, has admitted that he did not complete the mandatory national service after graduating from university.

Ghanaian law requires all graduates of accredited tertiary institutions to undertake a one-year national service programme as a prerequisite for public sector employment and a contribution to national development.

During his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Mr. Yamson was asked whether he had completed his national service.

In response, he candidly stated, “No, Mr. Chair,” confirming his non-compliance with the requirement.

Before his nomination, Mr. Yamson held a board membership position at Unichem Ghana Group and served as the Managing Partner at Ishmael Yamson and Associates since 2021.

His professional experience spans leadership roles at Unilever, Celtel International, and MTI Ghana Limited, where he specialized in brand development, investment strategy, and market expansion.
