Ntim Fordjour: NPP would’ve kept Assin Central if Ken Agyapong contested

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, believes the NPP would have retained the Assin Central seat if Kennedy Agyapong had contested, citing his strong appeal and past electoral success.

Agyapong, who had consistently won the seat, chose not to seek re-election, instead contesting the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries.

Speaking on Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV, Rev. Ntim Fordjour acknowledged Agyapong’s unique political influence.

“He [Ken Agyapong] has his own way of winning. Even though the last two elections were also not easy for him because the numbers were going down.

“But Kennedy is Kennedy, he has a way of entrenching and making sure of bringing the people along. A change of candidate was also a factor. He has done massively for Assin Central, and even if apathy sets in, there will still be some remnants,” he stated.

He also noted that the NDC won both Assin Central and Assin North, leaving the NPP with only Assin South. He stressed the importance of strategic efforts to reclaim the lost seats.

“The Assin Central we have held all this while, and we thought we would retain it. Unfortunately, we lost it as well,” he added.
