Finance Minister Engages Market Women and Kayayei in Pre-2025 Budget Consultations

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has wrapped up a productive engagement with market women, kayayei (head porters), and other traders at Makola Market.

The meeting offered a platform to hear their concerns and expectations ahead of the 2025 Budget presentation scheduled for Tuesday, March 11.

Dr. Forson described the interaction as a privilege, recognizing the significant contributions of these hardworking Ghanaians to the nation’s economy.

“It was a privilege to interact with these hardworking Ghanaians who break their backs daily to support our economy,” he said, emphasizing their impact on the commercial sector.

The discussions focused on the economic challenges facing small-scale traders, such as inflation, taxation, and access to credit.

He assured them that their concerns would be considered when crafting policies for the upcoming budget, underscoring the importance of their input in shaping Ghana’s economic direction.

“Their expectations ahead of Budget 2025 will help shape our shared future,” Dr. Forson affirmed.
