The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced the resumption of the placement exercise for the supplementary list of 2020 batch nurses and midwives who were granted financial clearance in 2024. The placement process, which had initially commenced, was temporarily halted for administrative reasons.
In a circular dated March 3, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director-General of GHS, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, all Regional Directors of Health Service were directed to restart the placement exercise from Monday, March 3, 2025.
The directive follows an earlier release by the Ministry of Health, assigning these healthcare professionals to the GHS for placement. The service emphasized the need for regions with staffing vacancies to make active efforts to attract the outstanding numbers through the provided contact channels.
This move is expected to boost the healthcare workforce, improving service delivery and ensuring that critical vacancies, particularly in underserved regions, are filled.
Healthcare sector stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, hoping that the resumption of the placement exercise will contribute to addressing staffing gaps and enhancing patient care across the country.
