The leadership of the Ghana Association of Forex Bureau paid a courtesy call on the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) Sammy Gyamfi in Accra on Tuesday, February 25.
They discussed the possibility of a partnership between the two agencies to combat gold smuggling and strengthen the national currency for economic revitalization.
Sammy Gyamfi in a Facebook post said that the discussion was very insightful and fruitful.
“The parties agreed to further engage and seek the collaboration of the Bank of Ghana and Finance Ministry in this endeavor,” the post said.
Regarding the move to establish the Ghana Gold Board, the technical committee tasked with the development of the legal and operational framework continued to engage stakeholders in the bid to establish a fit-for-purpose agency.
This agency, according to the PMMC, will reset, regulate and oversee Ghana’s gold marketing industry.
It was the turn of the Chamber of Mines and Civil Society Organizations in the extractive sector last week Friday, to make their inputs into the Bill for the establishment of the Goldbod which is very critical to the economic revitalization agenda of President John Dramani Mahama.
“The engagement was very insightful and productive,” Sammy Gyamfi said.
