NSA Scandal: Nana Boakye Criticizes Fourth Estate’s Report as Inaccurate and Unprofessional

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly condemned the Fourth Estate’s investigative report on the National Service Authority (NSA) scandal, calling it “poorly done” and an example of “lazy journalism.”

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, February 18, Boakye criticized the report for lacking proper fact-checking.

“It’s a poorly conducted investigation; they failed to verify the facts,” he asserted.

Boakye clarified that the NSA carries out four different types of postings annually, including the general postings for public, private, and technical universities, typically released in August or September. Additionally, there are separate postings for teachers in December and two separate batches of nurses, one in April and another in September.

He argued that the Fourth Estate’s report overlooked these distinctions.

“They simply took the figures from our general National Service posting announcement. For example, in 2018, we declared that 85,000 people had been posted, and they used that number as their reference,” he explained.

Boakye emphasized that the NSA submits a consolidated report of all four posting categories to Parliament.

“This includes figures for the general posting, teachers, and both groups of nurses, which we present collectively to Parliament,” he stated.

According to him, the Fourth Estate mistakenly compared the 85,000 general posting figure to the total numbers reported to Parliament, leading to incorrect claims about the existence of “ghost names.”
