Five-month-old Baby killed in Bawku as conflict escalates

A five-month-old baby girl was brutally killed in Bawku after attackers snatched her from her mother and smashed her to the ground, leading to her tragic death.

The baby’s mother, who had gone out to trade, was reportedly tracked by the assailants, mercilessly beaten, and had her child forcibly taken from her before the horrific act was carried out.

This latest killing adds to the ongoing violence in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, bringing the death toll to 55 since the conflict reignited in October 2024.

Despite efforts by security forces to contain the violence in Bawku and protect travelers along the highway, armed assailants continue to carry out deadly attacks, heightening fears among residents and commuters.
