The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a rerun of the Council of State elections for the North East and Ashanti Regions on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The decision to rerun the election in the North East Region according to the EC is due to the tie between two candidates where each of them had six votes
However, the rerun which will be conducted in the Ashanti region was triggered by the chaos that erupted during the counting of the ballot leaving the process incomplete.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 12, the EC confirmed that it has written to the Ghana Police Service and copied the National Election Security Taskforce to strengthen security at the election venues to prevent any disruptions.
