Interior Minister-designate Muntaka Mubarak to be vetted today

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is scheduled to vet Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister-Designate for the Interior today, January 24.

Muntaka Mubarak is a seasoned politician and also a long-serving Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region.

Muntaka Mubarak’s political journey spans over two decades, marked by significant contributions to both his constituency and the nation.

Representing Asawase since 2005, he has established himself as one of the most prominent figures in Ghana’s politics.

Muntaka previously served as the Minister for Youth and Sports under the late President John Evans Atta Mills’ administration. During his tenure, he championed policies aimed at youth empowerment and sports development, leaving a lasting impact on the sector despite facing challenges.

As an MP, he has also played an active role in parliamentary proceedings, earning respect across party lines for his insights and dedication to national development. His nomination as Minister for the Interior reflects confidence in his ability to manage the responsibilities of one of Ghana’s most critical portfolios.

If his nomination is approved, Muntaka will assume the responsibility of overseeing Ghana’s Ministry of the Interior, a role that directly impacts national security, public safety, and law enforcement.

The Ministry is tasked with coordinating the activities of key agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Narcotics Control Commission.

As Interior Minister, Muntaka will be expected to ensure that these agencies operate efficiently to maintain law and order, address emerging security threats, and uphold the rule of law.

Additionally, he will play a key role in shaping policies that align with Ghana’s broader objectives of stability, peace, and sustainable development.
