Ayariga replaces Ato Forson as Majority Leader today

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, is set to officially assume the position of Majority Leader in Parliament today, January 23, following the appointment of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister of Finance.

The elevation of Dr. Ato Forson to the Finance Ministry created a vacancy in the Majority leadership, paving way for Ayariga’s appointment.

Known for his legal expertise and extensive parliamentary experience, Ayariga is expected to bring a fresh and pragmatic approach to leading the Majority Caucus.

Over the years, Ayariga has established himself as a vocal advocate for his constituents and an active participant in legislative debates.

His leadership style is expected to focus on fostering unity within the Majority Caucus while advancing the legislative agenda of government.

The reshuffle also includes significant changes to other key parliamentary roles.

Governs Kwame Agbodza, who previously served as Majority Chief Whip, has transitioned to the executive as the Minister of Roads and Highways designate.

His nomination also opens up that leadership opportunity on the majority front bench.

Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, is set to assume the role of Deputy Majority Leader, succeeding Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah who has been the Minister designate for Lands and Natural Resources.

Ricketts-Hagan, recognised for his strategic insights and leadership acumen, is expected to work closely with Ayariga to ensure seamless coordination of parliamentary business.

Additionally, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the MP for South Dayi, is tipped to take over as Majority Chief Whip.

Known for his assertive contributions to parliamentary debates, Dafeamekpor will be expected to adopt a firm yet collaborative approach to maintaining party discipline and aligning MPs with the government’s legislative priorities.

Speculation is also rife about a potential elevation for Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the MP for Ada and current Second Deputy Whip. Reports suggest she may be promoted to First Deputy Whip.
