No disrespect and arrogance in my govt – Mahama warns appointees

President John Dramani Mahama has reminded his appointees to embody humility, tolerance and respect in their interactions with Ghanaians for a people-centered approach to governance.

Speaking after the swearing-in of six newly appointed ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 22, the President reiterated sentiments from his inaugural address, stressing that his administration has a duty to meet the high expectations of the citizens who entrusted them with power.

“Our conduct must reflect humility and an unwavering respect for the people we serve,” President Mahama stated.

“This government will not tolerate arrogance or disrespect toward Ghanaians, who have placed their trust in us to deliver.”

The President underscored the growing dissatisfaction among citizens toward officials who dismiss public concerns or display arrogance.

He urged his appointees to adopt a governance style that prioritises the aspirations and welfare of the people.

Mahama also tasked his Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, with addressing key economic challenges, including inflation, unemployment, the rising cost of living and infrastructural deficits.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to accountability and inclusivity, stating, “we must remain steadfast in our mission to serve, ensuring that our policies and actions reflect the needs and aspirations of every Ghanaian.”
