Ahmed Ibrahim, Eric Opoku, Haruna Iddrisu Among Key Nominees for Ministerial Vetting in Upcoming Appointments Committee Schedule

The Appointments Committee has scheduled the vetting of ministerial nominees for the upcoming week, with several key figures from various political backgrounds set to appear. Among the nominees are Ahmed Ibrahim, Eric Opoku, and Haruna Iddrisu, who have been designated for crucial portfolios.

On Monday, 20th January, 2025, Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South, will be vetted for the position of Minister of Education. Iddrisu, known for his political acumen and legislative experience, will face scrutiny as he seeks to take over the Ministry, a vital sector for Ghana’s development.

Eric Opoku, the MP for Asunafo South and former Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, is set to be vetted for the Ministerial position of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. His extensive experience in agriculture and related sectors puts him in good stead for the important role.

Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, will appear before the committee on Tuesday, 21st January, to be vetted for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs. Known for his work on local governance and community development, Ahmed Ibrahim’s nomination is seen as an essential move towards strengthening local administration and addressing key issues affecting local communities.

The series of vetting sessions, running from 20th to 27th January, will also cover other notable figures such as Agnes Naa Momo Lartey for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare for the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.

These appointments are critical to the government’s strategy to strengthen key sectors such as education, agriculture, and local governance. The Committee’s review of the nominees will set the stage for their formal confirmation and the effective execution of the nation’s developmental agenda.
