8 dead in clash between small-scale miners and soldiers guarding AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine

Over ten people feared dead following overnight clashes between some small-scale miners and military men providing security for Anglogold Ashanti Obuasi mine.

Reports indicate scores of the small-scale miners had entered one of their shafts when they clashed with the heavily armed military men.

Our reporter Nana Yaw Opoku also reports scores have been injured and currently receiving treatment at the various hospitals.

Reports also indicate three of the miners who sustained gun shots and were transported to the Komfo Anokye hospital on Saturday night have also passed on.
