President John Dramani Mahama will submit the final list of his ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament on Monday, January 20, 2025, fulfilling his promise to name his full cabinet within 14 days of assuming office.
The President has reiterated his commitment to maintaining a lean government, working with no more than 60 ministers.
The final batch of nominees is expected to include heads for key ministries such as Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour. Additionally, three Regional Ministers will be announced in this last submission.
Meanwhile, the Communications Team at the Presidency has refuted reports claiming the release of a third batch of ministerial nominees. These claims, which listed prominent members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been described as “false and misleading.”
Among the names mentioned in the unverified reports were Rashid Pelpuo as the alleged nominee for Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mubarak for Minister of Transport, and Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, for Minister-Designate of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation.
In a statement, the Office of the President clarified that no such nominations have been made and urged the public to disregard the misinformation. It emphasized that any official announcements would be communicated exclusively through authorised channels.
This submission marks the final step in assembling President Mahama’s team, as he prepares to implement his governance agenda with a streamlined and efficient administration
