Sammy Gyamfi Appointed Acting MD of PMMC, Tasked with Establishing Ghana Gold Board
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Sammy Gyamfi as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC). This appointment aligns with the government’s strategic plan to revitalize Ghana’s gold sector by establishing the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a key promise outlined in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 manifesto.
In his new role, Mr. Gyamfi will spearhead the establishment of the GoldBod under the supervision of the Minister for Finance. The board is expected to oversee the sustainable management and marketing of the country’s gold resources, formalize the small-scale gold mining sector, and provide essential mining support services.
A highly qualified professional, Mr. Gyamfi holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is also a Barrister at Law, certified by the Ghana School of Law, and holds a Master’s in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana. Furthermore, he is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, where he acquired executive certifications in Emerging Leaders and Strategic Leadership Programs.
Mr. Gyamfi brings valuable experience to the role, having previously worked with Exton Cubic Group Limited, a well-established mining company in Ghana. He also serves as the National Communications Officer of the NDC, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and economic development.
This appointment underscores the Mahama administration’s commitment to ensuring the effective and efficient utilization of Ghana’s gold resources for the benefit of its people.
