You cannot resort to attacks on JM to resurrect your dead political dream – Akowuah jabs Abronye

The Bono Regional Communications Officer for the ruling National Democratic Congress, the NDC, has described as ”laughable” the claims by the NPP Bono Regional Chairman in the social media.

The NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye is purported to have alleged that his life is under threat as a close associate of President Mahama is after his life.

This was published by Kumasimail.com on January 10, 2025.

According to the publication, ”an audio recording allegedly involving a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region has sparked controversy.

The story continued that the individual in the recording accuses a relative of former President John Dramani Mahama of plotting to assassinate Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the NPP Bono Regional Chairman.

According to the allegations, the assassination plot was orchestrated by a close relative of President Mahama, targeting Abronye for his outspoken criticism and alleged exposure of corruption within the previous NDC administration”.

In reaction to this story, the NDC Bono Regional Communications Officer, Mr. Charles Akowuah Tuffour immediately described the said allegation as a forlorn attempt by the failed NPP Bono Regional Chairman to resurrect his dead political carrier.

Mr Akowuah added that ”Abronye as we all know him is someone who survives on attacking President Mahama to make political gains but that did not work for him in the last two general elections where Abronye as the Regional Chairman of the NPP in the Bono Region continue to trail to the NDC.

”Prior to the 2020 general elections, NPP in the Bono Region under Abronye as the Regional Chairman were having eleven Members of Parliament as against One for the NDC. He resorted to attacks on the personality of President Mahama and that resulted in the NPP losing five Parliamentary seats to the NDC. Because he, Abronye doesn’t learn, he continued his verbal venom on President Mahama in the 2024 general elections and now the NPP have only one Parliamentary seat out of the twelve Parliamentary seats to the NDC.

Mr. Akowuah further alleged that Abronye made this unfounded allegedly about President Mahama because there has been series of intense pressure mounted on him by sections of the NPP in the Bono Region to account for the huge campaign resources he received for the general elections which, according to the group, has been embezzled by Abronye.

According to Mr. Akowuah, this is an attempt by Abronye to court sympathy for him in order to cover up the massive call on him to account for all the campaign resources and logistics he received on behalf of the NPP in the Bono Region.
