Mahama nominates Ato Forson, Dominic Ayine, John Jinapor as ministers-designate

President John Dramani Mahama has announced his initial ministerial nominations, submitting the names to the Speaker of Parliament in adherence to Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. These nominations aim to set the tone for addressing critical national challenges across finance, energy, and justice.

The three nominees are distinguished professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields:

  1. Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson – Minister for Finance Designate.
    Dr. Forson is an economist and chartered accountant known for his expertise in public finance, macroeconomics, and fiscal policy. A five-term Member of Parliament, he holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), along with master’s degrees in Taxation and Economics from Oxford University and KNUST, respectively.
  2. Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister for Energy Designate.
    With a strong background in energy economics and finance, Hon. Jinapor brings a comprehensive understanding of the energy sector. His qualifications include a Master of Science in Energy Economics from GIMPA and degrees in Economic Policy Management and Development Finance from the University of Ghana.
  3. Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine – Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Designate.
    Dr. Ayine is a seasoned lawyer with over 30 years of practice and teaching experience. Formerly the Deputy Attorney-General, he holds a Ph.D. in Law from Stanford University, an LLM from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ghana.

The nominees’ appointments, pending parliamentary approval, are anticipated to bolster efforts to address Ghana’s financial stability, energy transformation, and legal framework reforms.

Speaking on the nominations, Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu highlighted the administration’s commitment to delivering effective leadership for national development.
