Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh to Spearhead Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy and Export Development in New Presidential Role

In a bold move aimed at revitalizing Ghana’s economy and enhancing export potential, the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has appointed Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh as the Presidential Advisor Responsible for the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development. This pivotal appointment is part of a broader strategy to propel Ghana into a new era of economic transformation and competitiveness on the global stage.

Goosie Tanoh, a seasoned politician, lawyer, and entrepreneur, brings decades of experience in governance, public policy, and economic development. Known for his progressive vision and innovative approach to problem-solving, he is widely respected for his leadership during his tenure with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his contributions to various national initiatives.

The 24-Hour Economy Vision

One of the key components of Tanoh’s new role will be developing Ghana’s 24-hour economy—a concept designed to maximize economic productivity by promoting around-the-clock operations in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and services. This ambitious plan aims to boost job creation, enhance competitiveness, and position Ghana as a regional hub for commerce and trade.

Speaking on the appointment, an insider close to the President-elect stated, “Hon. Goosie Tanoh’s depth of knowledge and commitment to economic transformation make him the ideal candidate to lead this initiative. The 24-hour economy is not just about working longer hours; it’s about working smarter, utilizing technology, and expanding opportunities for all Ghanaians.”

Accelerating Export Development

In addition to the 24-hour economy initiative, Tanoh will oversee policies and programs aimed at accelerating export growth. His efforts will focus on diversifying export commodities, improving value addition to local products, and strengthening trade relations with key international partners.

A Key Pillar in the Mahama Administration

The appointment of Hon. Goosie Tanoh signals the President-elect’s commitment to prioritizing economic development in his administration. Alongside other notable appointees such as Julius Debrah as Chief of Staff and Dr. Valerie Sawyerr as Senior Presidential Advisor, Tanoh’s role will be integral to implementing strategic policies designed to uplift Ghana’s economy.

These appointments, effective January 7, 2025, reflect Mahama’s vision of assembling a team of skilled and experienced individuals to address Ghana’s most pressing challenges.

As Ghana embarks on this new chapter, Hon. Goosie Tanoh’s leadership in these critical areas is poised to shape the nation’s economic future. His success in implementing a 24-hour economy and driving export development will undoubtedly play a crucial role in achieving Ghana’s long-term economic goals.
