Joyce Bawah Mogtari, special aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has attributed the downfall of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign to widespread corruption within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an interview on Face to Face on Channel One TV on Tuesday, Mogtari emphasised that corruption played a significant role in undermining Bawumia’s efforts.
She highlighted that President Akufo-Addo’s failure to address corruption issues and his lack of responsiveness to the concerns of Ghanaians severely impacted Bawumia’s campaign.
According to Mogtari, the president’s attempts to support his vice president’s campaign were ineffective and often counterproductive.
“Corruption literally is what has destroyed even Bawumia’s campaign because largely his boss wasn’t listening and somehow, he had a campaign to run but you can see that every time President Akufo-Addo tried to campaign for his Vice President he just went completely awry.
“So, it was not just what he was saying it was because of him saying so. Maybe another person it would have been different,” Mogtari stated.
