The Member of Parliament for Banda, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, has successfully retained his seat in a keenly contested parliamentary election. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate secured a total of 9,150 votes, narrowly defeating his main rival, Joe Danquah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 8,010 votes.
This victory marks yet another milestone for Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, who has been a prominent figure in the constituency, advocating for development and social interventions to improve the lives of his constituents. His ability to hold onto the seat underscores the trust and confidence the people of Banda continue to place in his leadership.
The election, characterized by high voter turnout, was largely peaceful, with both candidates actively campaigning in the months leading up to the polls. Joe Danquah’s strong showing in the race reflected the growing competition in the constituency, making the outcome one of the most closely watched in the region.
Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, addressing supporters after the results were declared, expressed gratitude for the continued support and pledged to work harder to address the pressing needs of the constituency. “This victory is not mine alone but for the people of Banda. Together, we will push for the development and progress our community deserves,” he stated.
Joe Danquah, in a concession statement, congratulated Hon. Ibrahim on his victory and urged his supporters to remain united and focused on building a better Banda.
The Banda constituency race serves as a reminder of the dynamic and competitive nature of Ghana’s parliamentary elections, with voters prioritizing performance, commitment, and vision for their future.
