We’ll hold IGP and CDS responsible for any loss of life during elections – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and other security agencies to beef up security for the 2024 elections.

At a press conference on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi said the party will blame the IGP and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) for any loss of life in the upcoming elections.

“The NDC and by extension the people of Ghana will hold the IGP and the Chief of Defence Staff and our security heads responsible for the loss of a single life in the 2024 general elections.

“As I have already said elections are about counting heads and not cutting heads. No person must lose his or her life at the altar of elections,” he stated.

The party also made several allegations including a plot by some NPP members to rig the upcoming elections by any means possible.

Sammy Gyamfi further called on the Election Security Taskforce to investigate the said allegations to promote peace during the elections.

He said the NDC is confident of a resounding victory if the elections are free, fair and peaceful.

“We have no doubt that Ghanaians will choose an honest leader who upholds the virtue of truth over one who is completely allergic to truth,” Sammy Gyamfi noted.
