As Ghana prepares to go to polls barely a month from today, it is most important to uphold the constitution and serve it’s interest to safeguard our only pride, our democracy.
As required by law that, candidates are to provide accurate information about them selves which included their qualifications amongst several others, it is also criminal to provide false information about yourself as a candidate.
In a document that MASEMTVGH is in possession of, a private citizen by name Kingsford Oduro Dickson, wrote a petition to the Electoral Commission challenging the eligibility of an independent candidate at Banda Constituency by name Isaac Anorhene. According to the petitioner, Isaac Anorhene, allegedly presented fake certificates from Ghana Education Service, where he currently works as a Principal Superintendent. The petitioner alleged that, Mr Isaac Anorhene, faked a certificate from the University of Cape Coast and subsequently gained promotion to that rank within the Ghana Education Service.
According to the petitioner, his actual qualification is a pupil teacher, and not until an audit report revealed that he does not merit that qualifications and rank and he subsequently wrote a letter to the Director General of Ghana Education Service, denouncing his rank and subsequently apologized to that effect haven’t been at post for years with its corresponding renumeration.
Counsel for the plaintiff, Foster Kwasi Asante Esq. wrote to the University of Cape Coast demanding the authenticity of the certificates in question, and official reply from the University, which MASEMTVGH, is privy, indicates that, the said certificates are not on their archives and hence cannot authentic that supposed certificate purportedly bearing the name of the University.
However, in spite of all these fraudulent engagement and serious national security threat and petition sent to the Electoral Commission of Ghana by the petitioner, Mr. Kingsford Oduro Dickson, the Electoral Commission is said to turn deaf ears to the petition without giving the required attention.
The petitioner upon been ignored by the Electoral Commission(EC) , filed a suit at the registry at Sunyani High court, injucting the EC and the supposed candidate, Isaac Anorhene from calling himself a Parliamentary Candidate in the upcoming General Election in December 2024.
The petitioner is therefore asking the Electoral Commission to act in accordance with the law and disqualify the candidate in question with immediate effect, and in addition asking the IGP, National Security Coordinator, National Security Ministry and the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to immediately conduct investigation into this matter and the alleged criminal conduct be brought to book.
The supporting documents are copies of the initial petition and the reply from the University of Cape Coast with regards to the authenticity of the certificates.
