Promote peace ahead of December elections – Ogyeahoho Gyebiahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, has called on chiefs nationwide to champion peace as Ghana prepares for the December 7 elections.
He encouraged chiefs to uphold the dignity and integrity of the chieftaincy institution by acting responsibly during this period.
With only 36 days left until Ghanaians vote for presidential and parliamentary candidates, appeals for a peaceful electoral process are growing among major stakeholders.
In his end-of-tenure address at a meeting in Kumasi on Friday, November 1, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II emphasized the critical role of chiefs as peace ambassadors, urging collaboration to ensure a calm and orderly election.
“With the parliamentary and presidential elections with only a few days to go, let us continue our advocacy for fair, peaceful and transparent elections.”
He also reminded chiefs to act with respect, upholding the reputation of the chieftaincy institution.
“The challenges notwithstanding is not an exaggeration to say that the brand value of the chieftaincy issue has improved and its public visibility continues to increase.
“We need to continue to work harder to maintain the image and respect for our institution. Our conduct and behaviours as individuals, as chiefs and as an institution, should help uplift our image, we should do nothing to undermine this image.”
