The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, well known as Chairman Wontumi, has warned retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, for the second time ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He alleged that there are plans by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to recruit people to instigate violence during the elections, but the strategy will not materialise.
Chairman Wontumi warned that COP Kofi Boakye will be banished from the Ashanti Region if a gunshot is fired on election day to disrupt the process and put lives at risk.
The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman said that the party supporters will deal with persons who may cause mayhem during the elections.
“Those who are being bribed by the NDC to instigate violence should forget about it because they cannot do anything. Kofi Boakye was a COP here, but I showed him something small. That man is a nation wrecker. So, those who have been hired, I want you to know that if a single gunshot is fired, I will banish Kofi Boakye from the Ashanti Region.
“On December 7, 2024, after casting your ballot, stay at the polling station, don’t leave. If you see people on motorbikes coming with the intention of causing violence, react appropriately,” Chairman Wontumi said during a campaign rally.
This is the second time Wontumi has threatened the retired COP, as he earlier warned to place him under citizen’s arrest if he is found culpable of influencing people to engage in election violence.
