Kayayei Empowerment Program: 600 Kayayei Women Graduate with Vocational Skills October 16, 2024

The 5th Cohort of the Kayayei Empowerment Program, founded by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, celebrated the graduation of 600 women on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. This groundbreaking initiative aims to empower Kayayei women by equipping them with essential vocational skills, paving the way for their economic independence.

 

The graduates were trained in six specialized areas, including baking, bead making, soap making, decoration, driving, and more. The program’s goal is to unlock the potential of these women, enabling them to become self-reliant and economically active members of society.

Ms. Abigail Swad Laryea Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), expressed his deep gratitude to the partners and stakeholders who contributed to the program’s success. She pledged ongoing support and emphasized the importance of monitoring the progress of the graduates. Ms. Laryea also announced plans to introduce a new cohort focused on ICT training, including coding and digital skills, specifically for the Kayayei.

 

A proud graduate, speaking on behalf of her fellow graduates, expressed heartfelt thanks to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his unwavering support in empowering Kayayei women with skills.

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) in Partnership with the Ministry Finance has officially launched 2024 Presidential Pitch Session five (5) competition , with the theme ” Youth Entrepreneurship;Power and Responsibilities”. Nkonya Secondary School (Nkosec) has officially launched its 60th anniversary celebration with a strong call to the government to invest in the improvement of the school’s facilities. The anniversary, themed “Fulfilling the Aspirations of the Founding Fathers,” pays tribute to the founders who have played a vital role in the school’s development through their dedication and provision of resources. Professor Francis Ato, a lecturer at the University of Ghana and a former teacher at Nkonya Secondary, was one of the key speakers at the event. He announced that the anniversary celebration would culminate in a grand event on November 17, 2024. The celebrations will include various activities and engagements that aim to unite the school community and stakeholders in recognizing Nkosec’s achievements and future prospects. Prof. Ato called on all stakeholders, including the media, old students, and well-wishers both within Ghana and abroad, to join in supporting the school.
