Kwame Baffo Abronye Seeks Forgiveness from Dormaahene for 2020 Election Insults

Kwame Baafo Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has publicly asked for forgiveness from the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, during a momentous occasion today, October 9, 2024. The request for pardon took place during the launch of Dormaahene’s 25th Enstoolment Anniversary celebration and the 2024 Kwafie Festival in Dormaa.

Abronye, who had engaged in harsh verbal exchanges with the Dormaahene during the highly charged 2020 election year, acknowledged his missteps and expressed remorse for the comments he made. He extended the plea for forgiveness not only on his own behalf but also for John Boadu, the then-General Secretary of the NPP, who was also involved in the controversial statements.

Addressing the crowd and Dormaahene, Abronye emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation, expressing his gratitude for the Dormaahene’s leadership and the significance of the festival. The Dormaahene, known for his dedication to peace and development in the region, has yet to officially respond to Abronye’s plea.

The event marks a significant step in fostering peace between the NPP leadership and the Dormaa Traditional Council, as both sides work towards healing past divisions. The 25th Enstoolment Anniversary celebration of Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Kwafie Festival continue with a series of cultural and traditional activities planned throughout the week.
