The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a new directive to all its parliamentary candidates, requiring them to spend at least four days each week in their respective constituencies. The decision is aimed at bolstering campaign efforts ahead of the December 7 general elections.
In a statement released by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Friday, October 4, the NPP expressed concerns about the insufficient presence of some candidates in their constituencies, noting that this could adversely affect the party’s chances in both the presidential and parliamentary races.
“Some parliamentary candidates have not been consistent in their engagement with constituents. This lack of presence raises serious concerns about the potential impact on the party’s performance,” the statement highlighted.
In response, the NPP leadership has made it clear that they expect all candidates to prioritize their time in the constituencies, using the opportunity to connect with voters, address local concerns, and solidify their support base. The party believes that continuous engagement is crucial to its success in the upcoming elections.
To ensure compliance, regional campaign teams have been tasked with monitoring the activities of the parliamentary candidates and reporting their findings to the party’s National Secretariat on a weekly basis.
“We expect the full cooperation of all parliamentary candidates. Regional teams must submit weekly reports of the candidates’ activities to ensure accountability and consistency,” the directive concluded.
The move underscores the NPP’s commitment to maximizing its electoral fortunes by keeping candidates actively involved with the grassroots.
