John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has responded to recent polls by Fitch and Global InfoAnalytics that predict his lead in the 2024 general elections.
Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, has forecasted an NDC victory, and a final field poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows Mahama holding a strong lead over his main rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During a tour of the North East Region on Wednesday, October 2, Mahama pointed to polls from reputable organizations like Fitch Solutions and Global InfoAnalytics, which suggest the NDC is on track to win the upcoming elections. However, he warned his supporters not to become complacent, urging them to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process.
Mahama also accused the NPP of spreading false polls to create the illusion of a lead for their candidate, Dr. Bawumia.
“All credible opinion polls indicate that the NDC is set to win the elections. But because of this, the NPP and the government have started circulating fake polls without any clear methodology or identifiable researchers,” Mahama said.
He urged his supporters to disregard such misleading polls and focus on protecting every vote, stressing that they all play a role in ensuring electoral integrity as polling agents.
According to Global InfoAnalytics, Mahama is leading with 51.1% of the vote, positioning him ahead of Dr. Bawumia. Fitch’s analysis also suggests an NDC win, citing ongoing challenges faced by the ruling NPP. However, Bawumia’s campaign team has dismissed the Global InfoAnalytics poll results.”
