Election 2024: House of Chiefs must call stakeholders to order – Asiedu Nketiah

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on the National House of Chiefs to address recent developments in Ghana’s electoral process.

Asiedu Nketiah urged traditional rulers to engage all relevant stakeholders ahead of the December 7 elections to ensure peace before, during, and after the polls.

Speaking at the Yam Festival in Dagbon, he emphasised the critical role of traditional authorities in maintaining stability and urged them to take an active stand on the country’s electoral matters.

“But I would like to add that if all the House of Chiefs members are following developments in the country in this period leading to the elections, then we are worried about the loud silence of them. Because peace does not happen in a vacuum. There are elements that disturb the peace of a country.

“And whilst the elements that form the building blocks of violence are being laid, all peace-loving citizens and elders are expected to talk and advise and urge all the actors whose conduct is likely to threaten the peace to sit up and do their work very well.”
