The conduct of the NPP MP and parliamentary candidate for kintampo South constituency *Hon. Alexander Gyan*, in recent times, has become very worrying. His penchant for engaging publicly in needless fights needs to be given some attention. Today’s occurrence that requires urgent attention has necessitated this press release.
It is trite knowledge within the constituency that, Hon. Felicia Adjei, who is a candidate for the NDC, has been engaged in repairing broken-down boreholes for well over a month now. She has since repaired over 30 boreholes in over 18 communities. As part of the exercise, the PC’s engineer and his team were in a community called Akora along the Apesika road to repair some boreholes. After they had dissemssembled one borehole and were in the process of changing the faulty parts, the MP, whom we believed was notified by his party people about the presence of the team, hurriedly drove to the scene.
The MP who was looking visibly disoriented came shouting and throwing all manner of gestures at the team. He wouldn’t understand why the NDC PC Hon. Felicia Adjei should commission the repair of the borehole when he also has the intention to repair the borehole at a later date. The MP, in a Rambo style, seized some of the borehole parts and drove off with them to prevent the team from completing the repair process.
How shameful a scene it was to watch! Indeed, but for the patience of the engineer and his team, it could have resulted in a physical fight. Well, despite the NPP MP’s despicable conduct, which resulted in disrupting the process, the NDC PC with a determined spirit has purchased another set of the seized parts for the repairs to be completed.
What is particularly disgusting is the fact that this MP has engaged in public fighting over very trivial issues. A month ago, he joined some young men in an argument. When one of the men questioned his achievements as MP for the past four(4) years, he lost control and threw off his smock, ready to exchange blows. He was eventually dragged off the scene after his action had attracted many people to the scene.
In a similar act weeks ago, this same Hon. Alexander Gyan was in Pumpuatifi as part of his normal rounds. He was confronted by one of the youth of the town challenging his achievements as MP. Instead of the MP to politely admit his failure since it was obvious that he had none, as usual, charged on the guy leading to chaos at the gathering.
Considering the alarming rate at which Hon. Alexander Gyan engages in such public misconduct, the opinion leaders in the Kintampo constituency, notably the chiefs, the district police commander, and the regional minister urgently need to call him to order. Such a provocative attitude could one day lead to serious chaos in the constituency, which has the tendency to jeopardize the peace and cohesion that we currently enjoy in the constituency. We do not want an instability of any form in the constituency. However, if the MP has trust in his muscles, he should be prepared to meet his waterloo one day. Meanwhile, Hon. Felicia Adjei remains unperturbed about the development, insisting that the development of Kintampo remains her topmost priority.
Long live Kintampo South!
