The attention of the NDC leadership of the Nkoranza North Constituency has been drawn to a video circulating on social media involving some traditional chiefs of Dromankese. In the video, the said traditional elders were expressing their dissatisfaction about the inability of H.E. John Mahama to visit the Chief Palace. In the video, one sub-chief who is known to be a leading team member of our key political opponent in the constituency (Hon. Jacqueline Boatemaa Bonsu, NPP P.C.) is seen invoking curses against well-meaning citizens of Dromankese who intend to vote for the NDC. The said video was also captured by an NPP member who was giving supporting commentary alongside, indicating malice behind the said action.
To set the record straight, at no point in time did the party inform the community chief of JM’s intention to visit the palace. In fact, the constituency sent a delegation to inform the chief about JM’s visit to the community. We explicitly declared that JM would not visit the palace due to his busy schedules, and as has been the norm in this year’s campaign across the country. Dromankese’s case is not an exception.
Unfortunately, to our dismay, the said video started going viral on social media immediately JM left Dromankese for Kranka. The video is a misrepresentation of the agreement we had with the traditional authorities of Dromankese. Our checks indicate that the Odikro of Dromankese did not sanction such an unfortunate action because he was duly informed about the modalities of JM’s visit to the community.
During the 2020 election campaign, JM visited Nana Dromankesse Hene and his elders and spent almost 45mins in the Chief’s palace. This shows that there is/are no issue(s) between Nananom, JM and the Party NDC.
We implore all our party supporters, particularly those in Dromankese and Nkoranza North, to remain calm as we engage with the traditional authorities to reconcile all misunderstandings. We do not support any disrespect towards Nananom, especially on this incident. We respect tradition and culture and will not intentionally engage in any contemptuous actions against our traditional authorities. We resolve to maintain a peaceful relationship with our traditional leaders and cooperate with them to develop Ghana.
However, we condemn any ill-informed action intended to ruin the peaceful relationship between nananom and the NDC. Such actions that are politically motivated are condemnable and must not be entertained by well-meaning Ghanaians.
Long live Nananom!
Long live NDC!!
Long live Ghana!!
